The pair returned to making their breezy pop in 2013 with Volume 3 , an album of summer pop that arrived in the spring of that year. In late 2014, the duo announced the release of a second covers album. Classics featured works by legendary musicians such as Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Costello. They followed that with another Christmas album, Christmas Party , in 2016. Still focusing on the 20th century holiday tunes, it included guest performances by The Chapin Sisters, Jenny Lewis, and Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth. 2022 saw the release of the covers LP Melt Away: A Tribute to Brian Wilson , which features Wilson-penned classics like “ Wouldn’t It Be Nice ,” “ Do it Again ” and “ Darlin ,”. 2025 saw a boost in the band’s profile as Deschanel’s very first song written for Volume One , “ I Thought I Saw Your Face Today ” became a spontaneous viral hit, introducing their music to a new generation of music fans.
