Shades of Brown is a Nuestra Causa fundraiser and the official launch of our first apparel collection, Brown Brilliance. The collection was created as an extension of our organizing work, celebrating the identity, creativity, resilience, and brilliance of the communities we come from and serve. Proceeds from the drop will directly support Nuestra Causa’s community programs and organizing. The evening would include a reception featuring food from street vendors we organize alongside; the debut of our Brown Brilliance T-shirt collection, a report-back on our work, poetry from formerly incarcerated poets, recognition of program participants/fellow organizers, and a short panel highlighting the story and creative process behind the Brown Brilliance project. We’d close with remarks and time for everyone to connect and mingle. Nuestra Causa is a community-based organization rooted in San Francisco’s Mission District. Our work centers on violence prevention, youth leadership, support for currently/formerly incarcerated people and their families, street vendor rights, food justice, and community-led advocacy.
