Roopa Mahadevan and her ensemble Roopa in Flux have emerged as one of the most adventurous voices in contemporary global music, blending Carnatic classical traditions with jazz, soul, free improvisation, and experimental sound. A second-generation Indian American artist raised in the Bay Area, Mahadevan trained rigorously in South Indian classical vocal music before expanding her artistic language through collaborations across jazz, dance, theater, and interdisciplinary performance.
