A celebrated performer and composer, Obiedo has worked with jazz greats including Herbie Hancock, Johnny “Hammond” Smith, Julian Priester, and Pete & Sheila Escovedo, while also leading acclaimed local ensembles and contributing to recordings by artists from Lou Rawls to Grover Washington Jr. His solo career includes multiple nationally recognized albums, with Sticks & Stones reaching the Top 10 on Billboard’s contemporary jazz chart. His more recent project, Latin Jazz Project Vol. 1, features top jazz luminaries and highlights the vibrant rhythmic blend that defines his music.   About Pete Escovedo: A true icon of Latin percussion, Pete Escovedo has spent more than five decades shaping and redefining the sound of Latin jazz, seamlessly blending smooth jazz, salsa, and contemporary styles. Raised in Oakland, he launched his career with the Escovedo Brothers Latin Jazz Band and later the groundbreaking group Azteca, which opened for major acts including Stevie Wonder and The Temptations in the 60’s. He later toured and recorded with Carlos Santana, collaborated with his daughter Sheila E., and released a wide-ranging catalog including nine solo albums and the celebrated Latina Familia project with Tito Puete.
