DESCRIPTION:Jazz vocalist\, arranger and songwriter Emily Day has been perf
 orming jazz since the age of 16. As “one of the major singers in her fie
 ld” (Scott Yanow\, Syncopated Times)\, Emily's voice carries the history
  of American music. On stage\, she combines her deep knowledge of jazz wit
 h her whiskey-tinged timber and vocal acrobatics — simultaneously wild a
 nd precise.She currently leads the San Francisco-based swing band Cosmo Al
 leycats\, a group that celebrates the Great American Songbook and the bygo
 ne style of songwriting endemic to it. Before relocating to San Francisco
  in 2012\, Emily taught for several years at New England colleges and Univ
 ersities. She holds a BFA in Jazz Voice from The New School in New York an
 d an MA in Popular Music Studies from the University of Liverpool in Engla
