 lins is a tenor saxophone giant who came up in the modern jazz era. Sonny 
 creatively incorporated the original bebop saxophone style invented by alt
 o saxophonist Charlie Parker and transferred it to tenor saxophone. John C
 oltrane \, the other modern-era tenor giant\, followed Sonny's footsteps a
 nd recorded with him an exciting duet on the selection “Tenor Madness”
  —the only time they played together in the studio. Sonny Rollins record
 ed earlier with Miles Davis \, and the two of them formed a close musical 
 bond. This evening's music will be something to be remembered. Outstanding
  New York saxophonist Steve Heckman \, who knows closely and will interpre
 t the music of Sonny Rollins\, will be accompanied by the powerful Larry V
 uckovich Trio \, including Doug Miller on bass and Sylvia Cuenca on drums.
